A San Francisco native, violist Sarah Lee performed with numerous orchestras, chamber ensembles, and solo works.  Sarah is a member with the Monterey Symphony and Santa Cruz Symphony. She also performs with Stockton Symphony, Fresno Philharmonic, Merced Symphony, as well as with Bay Area ensembles such as Opera Parallele, One Found Sound, and the Lucky Devils Band. She led as Principal Viola at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, Indiana University, National Music Festival, and the Orchestra Institute of Napa Valley. Other festivals she participated in include National Repertory Orchestra, Kent Blossom Music Festival, and Aspen Music Festival. Sarah was featured as a soloist at Oxford Music Festival,   She performed in orchestral accompaniment with world class musicians such as Joshua Bell, Jaime Laredo, Elmar Oliviera, and Orion Weiss. For chamber music, she co-founded the Verismo Duo in 2015 with her sister Jennifer Lee: a duo comprised of piano and viola. 

 

In addition to performing with world renowned classical musicians, she enjoyed performing with various pop artists such as Michael Buble, Childish Gambino, Sarah Brightman, Lights, and actor Leonard Nimoy (narrator for Peter and the Wolf). She performed at historic venues at Davies Symphony Hall, Hearst Greek Theater, Herbst Theater, and SF Masonic Auditorium. 

 

Sarah is a passionate and dedicated educator. She regularly collaborates with other teachers and attends seminars for constant self-improvement. She is Suzuki certified under the guidance of Cathryn Lee and attended a Teacher Workshop Retreat with Mimi Zweig at Indiana University.  She is faculty at Suzuki Strings Crowden Music Center and teaches group classes as well as individuals of all ages.  She also teaches at  Harmony Project, an El Sistema Based program that provides high quality music education to underserved communities. She was invited to be a teaching artist for Adult Chamber music classes, private lessons, studio classes at Little Mission Studio and Music Mission she led sectionals and orchestra. She also has her private  teaching studio in San Francisco. 

 

She has a Master's of Music degree from San Francisco Conservatory of Music (SFCM), where she studied with Jodi Levitz as well as San Francisco Symphony members Yun-Jie Liu and Jonathan Vinocour. Sarah received her Bachelor’s of Music degree from Indiana University under the tutelage of Stephen Wyrczynski.
